Europe Day
Date: wednesday, 9th

On 9 May 1950, Robert Schuman presented his proposal of an organised Europe necessary for peaceful relations between the European countries.

This proposal, known as « Schuman declaration », is considered as the beginning of the development of the European Union.

Today, 9 May has become the European symbol (Europe Day) which, in addition to the flag, the hymn, the slogan and the common currency (euro), identifies Europe as a political entity. Europe Day is the occasion to organise activities and celebrations in order to approach European citizens on the one hand, and Europe and its citizens on the other hand.
